Messi is unique with an unprecedented number in the history of the World Cup

Lionel Messi, captain of the Argentine national team, achieved an unprecedented historical record in the World Cup, when he led tango dancers against France this evening, Sunday, in the final of the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Messi was in the starting line-up announced by Lionel Scaloni for the final confrontation, along with attacking duo Angel Di Maria and Julian Alvarez.

According to the "Opta" statistics network, Messi has become the record holder as the most participating player in the World Cup, with 26 matches.

Messi outperformed German legend Lothar Matthaus (25 matches), Miroslav Klose (24), Italian legend Paolo Maldini (23), and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo (22).

Messi aspires to achieve his first World Cup title in his career, after previously failing in the 2014 final by losing against Germany with a clean goal scored by Mario Gotze.
