Iraq is pursuing a senior official in the intelligence service and seeking the help of Interpol
On Thursday, the Federal Integrity Commission began the procedures for recovering a general director in the intelligence service, and issuing an arrest warrant against the accused fugitive at the level of the Arab countries to the International Police (Interpol), with the follow-up and supervision of the Prime Minister, Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani.
According to a statement received by the Baghdad Observer Agency, the Commission's Recovery Department clarified the procedures for pursuing the fugitive suspect (Dia Abdel Aziz Saad Al-Moussawi), in preparation for the issuance of the International Red Notice of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
The department stated, "The procedures for recovering the accused, who holds the position of Director General in the Intelligence Service, have actually begun, and a recovery file has been organized against him in preparation for the issuance of the red notice."
It added that it had completed "the procedures required to issue an arrest warrant at the level of Arab countries through the security and legal agencies concerned with law enforcement," noting that "this was done under the direct follow-up and supervision of the Prime Minister (Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani)."
A judicial arrest warrant was previously issued against the accused as a result of charges attributed to him related to corruption crimes represented in oil smuggling and exploitation of his job position.
