Iraq expects a rainy season above average

Meteorological observer Ali Al-Jaber Al-Ziyadi expected that Iraq would witness a distinctive rainy season in the upcoming winter rainy season, with chances of rainfall exceeding general rates in various parts of the country. Al-Ziyadi indicated that all long-term forecasts and weather maps point to positive indicators for a distinctive rainy season, during which rainfall amounts may exceed general rates in several Iraqi cities. He added that the growth of the (El Niño Modoki Super) phenomenon during the current year, and the continuation of its effects until late winter, could contribute to periods of high humidity and deepening of rainy low-pressure systems at close intervals. He said that some of these weather conditions could be accompanied by heavy rainfall intensity, in addition to chances of cold waves occurring in mid-winter. The background of the decision relies on long-term weather forecasts based on models and climatic maps that monitor atmospheric and oceanic patterns for periods extending weeks and months. He clarified that these forecasts, if proven and current indicators continue, could make the upcoming season one of the best rainy seasons Iraq has witnessed in decades.
