The Iranian Revolutionary Guard sent a message to the Kuwaiti people on Wednesday, opening with Quranic verses and calling for the expulsion of U.S. forces from Kuwait.
The Guard claimed in its statement that U.S. bases in Kuwait have been used in military operations against Iran, asserting that strikes hitting sites inside Kuwait were part of what it described as the "seventh wave of Operation Victory 2".
It pointed to targeting U.S. military systems, considering the continued presence of U.S. forces as an occupation.
The message raised questions about the Revolutionary Guard's responsibility for regional security and the impact of its statements on Gulf relations, especially given repeated targeting of neighboring countries under the pretext of defending Iranian national security.
The statement did not clarify mechanisms for implementing the call to expel U.S. forces or guarantees that civilians would not be harmed.
Regarding the escalation background, the Revolutionary Guard said in its statement that its operations target only U.S. forces, urging the Kuwaiti people to take advantage of every opportunity to end the U.S. military presence.
The statement added: "The continued presence of U.S. forces constitutes an occupation, and Islamic lands must be liberated from U.S. bases."
Kuwaiti authorities have not issued an official response to the message so far, while the repercussions of the Iranian statements on regional stability remain a focus of Gulf states.
