Basra Governor warns of paid pages and calls for support of anti-corruption campaign

Basra Governor Asaad al-Idani warned against paid pages that publish misleading information, stressing that the judiciary is the authority responsible for determining the fate of the accused according to law.

On Wednesday, al-Idani sent an audio message to the people of Basra, thanking them for their awareness and for refusing to follow rumors that appear from time to time.

In the message, he said: “Some of these pages aim to harm the state and spread poison in honey, coinciding with the campaign led by Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi to stop anything that could harm the Iraqi state or conceal and combat corruption files.”

He added that “this campaign represents a national concern for every Iraqi who cares about his country,” affirming public support for government measures aimed at restoring stability and establishing the state’s prestige.

Emphasizing the role of the judiciary and public order, al-Idani noted that the legal measures taken against the accused are still at the investigation stage, and the final word remains with the judicial authorities, which he described as a “safety valve for the country.”

The governor warned against suspicious pages that publish information without evidence, saying that those behind them seek to “export their failures and confuse Iraqi public opinion.”

Al-Idani stressed that Basra will see an improvement in conditions compared to the past, once again thanking the people of Basra for their awareness.
