Counter-Terrorism Agency Announces Arrest of Three Suspects and Search of Hideouts in Four Provinces

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Agency announced today, Tuesday, the arrest of three individuals described as terrorists and the search of several hideouts in various areas of the country, based on intelligence information.

The agency said in a statement that 'Counter-Terrorism Agency formations carried out a series of security operations in various areas, resulting in the arrest of three terrorists and the search of several hideouts in different provinces.'

The statement continued that Counter-Terrorism forces carried out several separate operations that resulted in the arrest of two terrorists in Anbar and Mosul provinces, in addition to searching a group of mud-brick villages and hideouts that the statement described as belonging to 'the remnants of the terrorist ISIS' in Kirkuk and the Zaghton Valley.

Background of the security operations: These operations come within the framework of the Iraqi government's efforts to confront armed organizations, particularly what the authorities describe as 'ISIS sleeper cells' that are active in some northern and western areas of the country.
