Lieutenant General Qais al-Muhammadawi, Deputy Commander of Joint Operations and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Million-Person Visits, arrived in Misan Governorate today to monitor preparations for receiving Arba'een visitors via the Al-Sheeb border crossing.

Al-Muhammadawi was accompanied by the heads of the service, security, and technical committees on an inspection tour aimed at assessing the readiness of infrastructure and services provided to visitors, amid concerns about repeating past shortcomings in providing water, electricity, and health care.

The Ministry of Defense said the visit is part of ongoing field tours, but did not clarify the size of the financial allocations earmarked for these preparations or the entity responsible for any potential shortcomings in implementation.

It is noted that Misan Governorate receives hundreds of thousands of visitors annually via the Al-Sheeb crossing, placing significant pressure on its limited resources, without clear financial compensation from the federal government.

The visit coincides with the approaching Arba'een anniversary, which sees a large movement of visitors from Iran and other countries, requiring high security and logistical coordination, often marred by a lack of transparency regarding the distribution of roles between ministries and governorates.
