Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Halbusi reiterated Baghdad's support for regional de-escalation on Saturday, affirming Iraq's rejection of any violations against Arab states' sovereignty.
Halbusi's position came during a speech he delivered at the eighth conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of Arab councils and parliaments, held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
We cannot ignore the security and political challenges facing our Arab nation, foremost among them the continued attacks and violations targeting the sovereignty of Arab states and the security of their peoples.
Halbusi affirmed Iraq's condemnation of the attacks carried out by Israel against the Palestinian people and Syrian and Lebanese territories, and stressed Baghdad's rejection of Iranian attacks, which he said violate the sovereignty of Arab states and threaten their security and stability.
Halbusi called for an immediate halt to those attacks and violations, without providing further details about their nature or the states he meant in his remarks.
