Al-Hakim affirms Iraq's seeking to strengthen relations with neighboring countries and Turkey

Ammar al-Hakim, head of the National Wisdom Movement, affirmed Iraq's pursuit of the best relations with neighboring countries, based on a policy of enhancing joint cooperation and consolidating security and stability in the region. Al-Hakim's office said in a statement that the head of the National State Forces Alliance received on Wednesday the head of Turkish intelligence, Ibrahim Kalin, and the accompanying delegation, during which they discussed regional files, bilateral relations between Iraq and Turkey, and ways to activate common interests and enhance mutual benefits.

The statement noted that al-Hakim emphasized that the Iraqi constitution stipulates that Iraq cannot be a passage, headquarters, or launchpad for threatening neighboring countries, stressing the preservation of national sovereignty and preventing external intervention in all its forms. Al-Hakim highlighted the importance of activating economic commonalities, especially the Development Road project, which he described as a strategic opportunity to make Iraq and Turkey a link between East and West.

On economic and security challenges, al-Hakim pointed to Iraq's ability to defeat terrorism, liberate its lands, and reconstruct them, urging benefit from the Iraqi experience in counter-terrorism and enhancing joint cooperation to pursue terrorist remnants and cut off their funding channels.

In the regional context, al-Hakim expressed optimism that the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States would lead to a permanent and comprehensive agreement that would spare the region further escalation, calling on regional countries to support de-escalation pathways.

On the domestic front, al-Hakim clarified that Iraq has overcome the political impasse stage and succeeded in electing the three presidencies and forming the government, warning that the current challenge lies in the economic side, calling for diversifying income sources and crude oil export outlets.
