Detention of Former Nasiriyah Municipality Director Muhammad Abd Lilu

Iraqi authorities detained the former director of Nasiriyah Municipality, Muhammad Abd Lilu, as part of ongoing investigations into financial and administrative corruption cases in the governorate. Informed sources said the investigations revealed administrative and financial violations and suspicions of financial corruption in the corridors of municipal departments in Dhi Qar, including Nasiriyah Municipality. The sources added that the file is large and spans several years, relating to lands and their distribution, and what has been done so far is within the first phase. The investigation may include other municipal departments in districts and sub-districts, according to sources.
