Iran threatens to bomb US bases in Oman and Qatar

The Iranian armed forces announced that they have placed sources of threat against them within their firing range, in response to what they described as repeated violations of the ceasefire. It said its defensive operations would include US bases and facilities in Oman and Qatar, noting the targeting of violating vessels in the southern Strait of Hormuz and its closure. It added that attacks it launched on targets in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan were in response to an attack by the US Central Command on southern Iran, accusing Washington of using Qatari and Omani bases as a shield to launch attacks. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Muscat to conduct indirect talks, while Tehran rejected US and Qatari interventions aimed at opening the southern passage of the strait. It remains unclear to what extent these statements will affect maritime traffic in the region or the security stability of Gulf states. According to the statements, Iran holds the United States responsible for the escalation and considers the use of allied bases as platforms for attack to justify broadening the response circle. However, this step raises questions about its repercussions on civilians and infrastructure in the targeted countries, as well as the possibility of broader escalation that could destabilize regional security. So far, no official comment has been issued by the concerned governments regarding these threats, leaving the door open for uncalculated repercussions in the region.
